Privacy Policy

The Moral Decay Index is an independent editorial website operated by David. This notice describes information associated with reading the site, contacting us, subscribing, and using the store. A privacy notice is not itself a request for consent.

1. Information you choose to provide

Contact messages can include your name, email address, subject, and message. Newsletter subscriptions use the information you submit through the signup form. Store orders can include contact, billing, order, and transaction information needed to process a purchase and provide support. Please avoid sending sensitive personal information in an ordinary contact message.

2. Current analytics and advertising settings

As of September 20, 2026, optional Google Analytics, TikTok, Reddit, Snapchat, and store marketing-attribution tracking are temporarily disabled. The site’s Google AdSense advertising scripts have also been removed; an account-verification meta tag remains. We are not currently serving site display ads through those scripts.

Disabling a service does not automatically delete information that the service previously received or cookies already stored in an existing visitor’s browser. You can review and remove existing site data through your browser settings.

If advertising is enabled in future, Google and other advertising vendors may use cookies to serve ads based on visits to this and other websites. Google’s advertising cookies can enable it and its partners to personalize ads. You can manage personalized advertising through Google My Ad Center. Any future activation must be reflected in this notice and accompanied by the applicable consent controls.

3. Essential functions and technical requests

Website delivery, security, forms, account access, shopping-cart sessions, and checkout can require technical information such as your IP address, browser information, requested page, and session data. Disabling optional analytics does not stop the technical requests needed to deliver a website or a service you request. Blocking all cookies can interfere with login, cart, or checkout functions.

4. Providers and embedded content

The site uses WordPress, MailPoet for newsletter functions, and WooCommerce for the store, with payment functions provided through Stripe. These services process information relevant to the function you use. A payment interaction is subject to the payment provider’s own privacy information.

Pages use Google Fonts and the Videos page contains YouTube embeds using the youtube-nocookie.com privacy-enhanced player. Loading an external font or player makes requests to the provider and can disclose technical connection information. Privacy-enhanced video embedding does not mean that no connection to YouTube occurs. Playing a video or following an external link may involve additional processing under that provider’s policies.

5. Purposes and sharing

Information supplied through the site is used to provide requested content or services, respond to messages, administer subscriptions and purchases, maintain security, address technical problems, and meet applicable obligations. Service providers receive information needed for their functions. Information may also need to be disclosed in response to a valid legal requirement.

6. Retention and your choices

Retention depends on the purpose of the record, such as an ongoing subscription, order support, security, or required business records. Contact us to ask about a particular record or request access, correction, or deletion. Some records may need to be retained for legal or operational reasons; we do not promise immediate deletion of every record.

You can unsubscribe using the link in a newsletter. Depending on your location and the circumstances, additional privacy rights may apply. Use the Contact page to make a request, and identify the service involved without sending payment credentials or other unnecessary sensitive information.

7. Children and external websites

The site is intended for a general adult audience. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, contact us so the situation can be reviewed. External websites have their own policies; this notice describes this site’s practices.
