What is the Moral Decay Index?
An independent editorial project by David examining whether public behavior matches stated values. It combines source-based analysis, moral commentary, and voluntary self-reflection tools.
Is it a scientific measurement of morality?
No. Social indicators describe particular conditions. They do not establish the moral worth of a person, religion, family, state, or country.
Where did the numerical scores go?
On September 20, 2026, the national and geographic scores were withdrawn because a complete, reproducible calculation record was not available. Previous scores, rankings, grades, and annual changes should not be treated as measured findings. See the correction and methodology.
What can I use instead?
The State and Country Evidence Guide links to original datasets and explains how to compare places without mixing definitions, years, or units.
What are the eight lenses?
Political Polarization; Trust in Institutions; Income Inequality; Mental Health Crisis; Family Stability; Crime & Violence; Substance Abuse; and Cultural Cohesion. These organize the editorial subjects rather than acting as validated numerical components.
How should I read an article?
Identify the reported facts, follow the source links, check the dates, then assess the interpretation separately. An allegation is not a conviction. A survey of trust is not a measurement of institutional performance. One incident cannot establish a national trend.
Does the site only report decline?
Improvement belongs in the record too. Evidence that contradicts an argument is a reason to reconsider the argument. Our standards should apply equally to allies and opponents.
Is the archive fully rechecked?
No. Older articles are undergoing review for dated statistics, evidence links, and unsupported claims. A publication date is not a guarantee that every statistic remains current.
Is the Moral Consistency Audit a diagnosis?
No. It is a voluntary reflection exercise, not a clinical, employment, or political screening instrument. It does not measure a person’s moral worth.
How can I report an error?
Use Contact and include the page, disputed claim, and supporting source. Specific evidence makes a correction easier to evaluate.
