Truth before tribe
A society cannot address problems it refuses to examine. We organize credible evidence, ask morally consistent questions, and challenge the habit of excusing conduct merely because it comes from our preferred party, leader, or social group.
The standard should survive a change in party, personality, race, religion, and circumstance.
What the Index is—and is not
The Index is a public-interest editorial framework. It is not an official government statistic, scientific diagnosis, clinical assessment, or declaration of anyone’s moral worth.
Scores are provisional editorial estimates. Readers are encouraged to review the methodology, examine the sources, challenge errors, and reach their own conclusions.

The same moral and evidentiary standards should apply to allies and opponents.
